Watching Sunset in Kuta Beach, Bali

Kuta Beach Bali is a mixing place for many Bali visitors. The size of the beach and the proximity to guesthouses and hotels means Kuta Beach is within easy reach. Just the other day I strolled down to the beach at sunset to checkout what was going on and the beach was pretty packed. Waves were pumping and the water was full of monkeys all dropping in and cutting each others nuts off. For novice surfers Kuta Beach offers an excellent starting point because it is handy, sandy and waves break rather flat so you can always get onto something.

In the same frame I saw school groups from Java giggling and photographing each other, locals playing beach soccer, older Muslim tourists sitting under the trees eating rujak (sour fruit with salt, chili, caramel yuck!), older couples from Europe (him trying to check out the girls, her getting pissed) and a menagerie of strolling vendors. Its a scene and has that We Are The World feeling.
Beach vendors charge an inflated price for their wears out of convenience. If you are on a strict budget nip over the road to the Circle K and grab a drink. No worries about drinking alcohol in public over here.
