3D Ready PDP TV supported by Samsung PAVV Cannes 450

Samsung has announced their 3D Ready PDP TV ‘PAVV Cannes 450′ for the Korean market. The TV features 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and 3D content support. Such a high contrast ratio is achieved thanks to Cell Light Control and is equipped with 2008 Ultra Daylight technology and DNIe+ (Digital Natural Image engine+) chipset. You can catch your fav 3D games and movies with the Cannes 450 when you hook the TV to high performance PC supporting 3D software and then wear your 3D glasses. Electronic Arts is coming out with content for TV, they will be dishing out a variety of 3D content for 3D Ready PDP TV. The PAVV Cannes 450 also features enhanced low-sound performance and has adopted a slimline design with an upgraded black panel. It has incorporated three entertainment modes; sports, movie and game.

The Samsung PAVV Cannes 450 is expected to be available for around 1,750,000(KRW) or $1,869 for 42-inch model and 2,500,000(KRW) or $2,669 for 50-inch and the 50-inch full HD PDP ‘PAVV Cannes 550′ will cost around 3,900,000(KRW) or $4,164.

Ultra Personal Train

The ULTra (Urban Light Transport) is being developed by the British company Advanced Transport Systems (ATS), and it works on the concept of on-demand personal transport. The system proposes virtually no waiting time to take individual passengers non-stop to their chosen destination. A fleet of driverless electric vehicles, running on a network of elevated or ground level guided routes ferry passengers to their desired destination. The low-floor vehicles have a seating capacity of four, with some additional standing room or space for a wheelchair. The speed maxes to about 40 kilometers per hour hence the non-stop service can make trip times two or three times faster than other urban transport. Passengers can opt for routes and make payments via a smartcard. The passenger destination is passed to central control, which in turn sends the nearest available vehicle in the network to the station. Previous simulations demonstrate that waiting times average around 10 seconds.

The first ULTra (Urban Light Transport) system is actually under construction at the moment at Heathrow airport in London. It will be operable in the fall of 2008. A Dutch company has also recently signed an agreement to introduce ULTra in the Netherlands and Belgium.
