Play Station Portable To Offer SkypeWith the appeal of communication/gaming devices on the rise, Sony has unveiled its plans to capitalize on this phenomenon, introducing the Skype communication program to the PlayStation Portable.

The Skype application will be included in an upcoming system update, which will add a new icon to the network section on the PSP’s home menu. For PSP owners who don’t already have a Skype subscription, they’ll be able to sign up through the portable device by following the instructions at the application’s startup. For current subscribers, they’ll simply have to log in and have at it.

The Skype service currently has over 246 million subscribers and will be made available only to the slim and light PSP (PSP-2000 series) at the end of January.
