Three Sega games Signed from Platinum Games
Some rumors you really want to come true and this definitely classes as one of those. Platinum Games Inc. is thought to have signed a deal with Sega to publish its first three games.
Platinum Games is the company that eventually formed after the Capcom-funded independent developer Clover Studio closed its doors. For those not familiar with Clover Studio, they developed the Viewtiful Joe series, Okami, and God Hand–not a bad softography to have.
When Clover initially closed the talent from the studio (Shinji Mikami, Atsushi Inaba and Hideki Kamiya) reformed as Seeds, but then in October 2007 merged with another developer to become Platinum Games. The projects they have been working on are a big secret, but if the rumor is true then we can expect to see 3 games appearing from the studio and published by Sega.
The three games are:
Bayonetta – a stylish action game about a witch battling angels with guns on her feet. The fact it is being looked after by Devil May Cry’s Hideki Kamiya means however crazy the premise sounds, it’s going to be highly playable.
Infinite Line – a DS sci-fi RPG where you take on the role of a starship captain and can customize your spaceship and crew.
MadWorld – A Wii game that is meant to be a very violent fighter with the player controlling a character that has a chainsaw as a right arm. This game will look very much like Sin City in black and white with red blood.
This is a rumor, which has had no confirmation or denial from Platinum Games or Sega. With the detail being quite specific we can only hope it is true and look forward to some interesting new titles being released.
