Worldwide Kick Off users now meeting as a global league
SEOUL, Korea (AVING) — CRSpace(www.crspace.co.kr) has been conducting a pre Open Beta Test of an online casual sports game, ‘Kick Off Global’, developed by CRSpace since the 29th of last month, using a GSP(Global Service Platform).

The company has a plan to revive Kick Off Continental leagues in 7 countries such as Korea, where Kick Off is distributed, using a GSP and to elect the global winner among those continental winners, in order to activate a global service of Kick Off before it is commercialized.

However, the success of such global leagues will depend on a network performance which has been issued since the previous closed Beta Test, as well as a revitalization of the leagues in each country where Kick Off is introduced.
Today, we interviewed Kick Off developers, the overseas project manager, and the business manager for Kick Off about their thoughts regarding these challenges and future plans.
1. First of all, what is ‘Kick Off’?
Kick Off is a soccer game which is more user-friendly and easier to play when compared to the traditional soccer games such as FIFA or Winning Eleven. Anyone can easily enjoy Kick Off.
A user selects one of 3 positions, i.e. forward, midfielder, deep fielder, and 3 users make one team to dash unlimited competitions. Compared to FIFA or FIFA STREET, Kick Off is easy to play and a user can customize its character and/or skill level, and even enjoy a goal ceremony with other players, just like a real sports star.
In addition, RPG components allow a user to purchase additional items with rewards earned from skills and plays achieved in each level. Another unique character of Kick Off is that each game has a mission, ’3 assists’, ‘win as 2 to 1′, or ‘lose as 1 to 2′, for instance. And each position has a different mission. A reward is given each time the mission is successfully completed.
2. How is the Closed Beta Test of Kick Off using Global Service Platform?
Soccer is one of the sports that everyone in the world plays, no matter what languages is spoken. That’s why lots of game users can connect from around the world. However, each country will have a different situation in terms of network performance. When a user from Singapore and another user from Brazil, for example, are in the same game room, network performance became an issue.
Fortunately, other than that, we have not experienced any other issue. Kick Off has received a lot of compliments from its various users. An oversea user said that he had “more fun than playing Kick On-line”.

3. An Open Beta Test started a while ago. How did you resolve the problem regarding server stability?
It is very important to have a stable server. We regularly receive a report from the oversea GM. After the previous closed beta test, we started to examine the Internet connection status with a character since the open beta service started on the 29th, in order to identify and respond to the status of our user connections. I know it’s a kind of passive way, but it seems to be the only solution at this moment. But, we are also considering implementing separate servers around the world, including Korea to cover Asia, and other servers in Europe and in America.
4. E-Sports are very active in Korea. Do you intend to use Kick Off as an E-Sports?
We agree that Kick Off is suitable for an E-Sports and were even going to participate in a GNCGWC(Game&Game World Championship) which begins in July. But our open beta service is still on going and we don’t have enough time to complete the necessary participations before July. Ultimately, we made a decision to join next year.
We are also planning to activate Kick Off leagues in connection with E-Sports. In addition to a GSP, we are serving in 4 different languages – Brazil(Ongame), Spain, Germany(Frukbuster), UK, Europe, France, etc, and are localizing it as well. The reason to use a GSP is to use local servers for local leagues and to use a GSP for a global league among the winners of the local leagues.
For E-sports, we will introduce game contents such as audience mode and announcing system. These systems can impact directly on game play when network status is not stable. Accordingly, it can be applied to any country with its own local server, but the countries served through a GSP will be applied only after the server issue is solved.
5. Can you explain game leagues in detail?
The league system of Kick off, operating in a separate channel, is a new game mode which enables the users to play interesting team automatic matches and achieve a rank based on such.
A winning team plays with another winning team, whereas a losing team plays with another losing team, so as to enjoy more interesting features within the game by matching teams with similar talents to play against each other. In order to enter the league channel, a user needs a license which can be received by completing a mission at level 6.
A user over level 16 can participate in the expert league where a more improved AI goalkeeper appears for a thrilling action game.
6. What is your future plan and do you have any additional comments for Kick off users?
Current open beta test will last about a month. We will check the network status between users during the open beta test. We are not sure whether the ‘league system’, a new game content, can be uploaded before it is commercialized. It is up to the network status. We are also planning to run tournament games, which will be introduced after reviewing the results of this open beta test.
We hope the game manias not yet trying Kick Off would enjoy Kick Off with friends to get rid of stress and create various avatars, which is another interesting component within Kick Off.
