Microsoft aims to turn its Windows Live portal into something more like a social-networking site with features it will add to the next major update of its online services and applications.
Windows Live users will be able to let people they’ve designated as “friends” see activities they are doing in other Web applications through Windows Live Hotmail, Windows Live Messenger and other Live applications and services, said Chris Jones, corporate vice president of Windows Live at Microsoft.
“We are integrating the notions of social networking, e-mail and instant messaging into a consistent experience,” he said. Read more

Panasonic showcased the world’s first Micro Four Thirds system camera LUMIX DMC-G1 in red color during CEATEC 2008 held in Japan.
Based on the new Micro Four Thirds System standard, the LUMIX G1 eliminates the internal mirror structure that defines digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras, thus reducing the size and weight by nearly half.
It comes in three different colors including black, red and blue, and no words on pricing yet. showcased the world’s first Micro Four Thirds system camera ‘LUMIX DMC-G1′ in red color during CEATEC 2008 held in Japan. Read more
Comstar-UTS test zone demonstrates mobile WiMAX

The operator of integrated telecommunication services Comstar-UTS held a demonstration in Moscow on its test area wireless broadband Internet access technology for mobile WiMAX. Journalists were shown leading media capabilities of mobile WiMAX in the wild movement in the city.
In September 2008, Comstar-UTS in the center of Moscow has set up a test area wireless broadband access services WiMAX standard IEEE 802.16e (radio frequency range 2,5-2,7 GHz). In the zone employs three base stations installed in the area Petrovsky Boulevard, Daeva lanes and streets Schepkina, between stations provided “seamless” transition. WiMAX-network Comstar-UTS will be put into operation in late 2008. Until the end of 2008 the company will install 160 base stations. Read more
